Annual Community Health Fair
Every year, Yale SNMA/LMSA holds a community health care in the Dixwell/Newhallville neighborhood of New Haven, at the Stetson Branch of the New Haven Free Public Library, offering free health services and screenings to members of the community. Services offered have historically included:
-
activities and freebies including zumba class, cooking class, raffles, sandwiches, and healthy snacks
-
health screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, and body fat measurements, and disease testing through the Community Health Care Van
-
medical health resources including dental hygiene, cardiovascular resources, diabetes consults, and planned parenthood
-
well-being resources information including mental health information, violence & abuse counseling, housing information, smoking cessation, Connecticut Mental Health Center
-
and much more!
This year, the fair, dubbed "Party with a Purpose" is being held on Saturday May 13th, 2017, during the same weekend as and in conjunction with New Haven's Freddie Fixer Parade. Please contact us if you are interested in more information or are interested in being a volunteer. We are currently looking for general volunteers to help facilitate operations on the day of the event, as well as physicians and health care providers who are willing to donate resources or time for the event. Please email yalesnl.communityserv@gmail.com or yalesnl@gmail.com if you would like to help out!
